Human Trafficking as a Cyber Crime

Today, more than ever before, immense technological infrastructures are in place that can allow us to fight human trafficking, and other horrific crimes like it, quicker and with more accuracy. Using the internet to trace activities of suspected traffickers can lead help governments and law enforcement agencies reduce the number of people who live in forced labor and/or sexual situations. 

Transnational Crime: Illegal Fishing

            Maritime security has been a constant battle since the time the ships made the first voyages across oceans or in international waters. In today’s world, international institutions have joined forces to help to ensure the security of our waters. In addition to independent states coast guard, international organizations such as Greenpeace, International Crisis Group, and Sea Shepherd, ensure enforcement of multinational agreements on the high seas. 

An Egyptian coup d'état

The recent violence in Egypt surrounding the removal of their Islamist President ties in nicely to the discussion topics for this week. After several were killed and over 260 people injured, the new Egyptian government is appointing their leaders. Unfortunately, as with any coup, there are two (or more) different sides to the argument, each with different views and opinions.
